The voice over is Tiger's late father. Nike ads are usually some of my favorite, but I'm not sure how I feel about this one yet. Let me know what you think.
That is a good question! I will say I commend Nike for standing by Tiger. I don't condone what he did, but I think it is a very personal, private matter that he needs to work through with himself and his family. Tiger is a human, just like the rest of us. He is not immune to flaws or failures. And just as I wouldn't want the details of my private life broadcast around the world, Tiger also deserves to have a private life. I say shame on anyone who feels they have a right to judge him. It's none of our business. Back to the ad. If I were Nike, i wouldn't have used Earl's voice. I wouldn't have opened up the conversation, as it is a private one that the public has no right to. I would have kept the "Just Do It" slogan because, Tiger is at a point where he has to overcome insurmountable odds, demonstrate intestinal fortitude, and claw his way back. That is as true a representation of sport as anything we've seen from Tiger or Nike yet.
